These days I’m quite the converted camper, the moment my friends suggest it I put the straightening irons down, grab my hikers, fleece, spork and some water proof mascara (come on, gotta have one girly thing on a trip) and I’m on the road looking like an over grown teenage backpacker.
Who said being mature has to be all the time? Quite like living out of a bag and a tent for a few days.
Salt in my hair, sun on my face, I’m there. Unless of course the English weather fails to play nice, then it’s waterproofs all day, but I still love it.
Over the bank holiday an entire tribe of us converged in a camping field in Bedruthan Steps, Cornwall. With a wooden shed for a shower and a loo, and nothing but a sea view it was a delight.
My trusty Canon had a run for it’s money. How turquoise the sea was, how blue the sky and white the sand. Although I’ve eaten too much Cornish fudge, I feel a bit sick……
We camped at Bedruthan Steps Camping for 2 nights, for a very reasonable £8 per person per night, no extra charges for our car. The site is only open in August.
You can use it just as a car park and walk down to the beach for a quid or two as well, if you’re just day visiting.
Facilities are simple but work – 2 unisex showers, 2 unisex loos and a men’s and a women’s loo. There’s a fresh water supply where you can top up but there’s no electric hook up. It’s all we needed, was wonderful over looking the sea.
